Derry Girls stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Jamie-Lee O'Donnell are reuniting on screen, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

The actors have driven a 4x4 vehicle across Romania for Dave's revival of World's Most Dangerous Roads, which is returning to television for the first time in a decade.

Other pairings appearing in the travelogue include Edinburgh Comedy Award best newcomer Lara Ricote traversing Australia with Green Wing star Stephen Mangan; plus stand-ups Ed Gamble and Lou Sanders in Iceland; Joe Wilkinson and Zoe Lyons in Turkey; Suzi Ruffell and Maisie Adam in Morocco; Darren Harriott and Ria Lina in South Africa and podcast co-hosts Phil Wang and Pierre Novellie in Lesotho, a landlocked kingdom inside South Africa, where Novellie grew up.

Comedy actors Leigh Francis and Will Mellor have also driven around the mountains of Albania, with the twist that Francis appears in character as his alter-ego, Keith Lemon.

Expanded to eight hour-long episodes from its original run, World's Most Dangerous Roads will air early next year.

Former Taskmaster champions Gamble and Sanders, who were also paired on Dave's task-based survival show Outsiders last year, posted several images of their trip to Instagram this summer, with Sanders declaring "Iceland niceland - what a bunch of the best".

Gamble stated simply: "Iceland is FIT".

Like Outsiders, World's Most Dangerous Roads is made by Renegade Pictures (24 Hours To Go Broke). The show's return was first announced in 2020 but has been delayed because of coronavirus restrictions on travel.

The original show ran for three series of three episodes each on BBC Two between 2011 and 2013. Pairings included Greg Davies and Rhod Gilbert driving in Nepal, Ed Byrne and Andy Parsons tackling Siberia and Sue Perkins and Liza Tarbuck on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
