Ellie Taylor signs up for Strictly 2022
- Ellie Taylor is taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year
- The show's 20th series begins in September
- She will compete against fellow stand-up Jayde Adams, amongst others
Stand-up comedian and actor Ellie Taylor has joined the line-up for Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
The married comic and mum of one, 38, will compete in this autumn's series of the reality/dancing contest format, its twentieth series.
She joins the likes of previously announced fellow comic Jayde Adams and sitcom star Will Mellor in the line-up.
Ellie says: "Well, cover me in fake tan and roll me in sequins! I'm absolutely over the moon to be a part of Strictly 2022! I've watched the show for years so to be able to take to the dance floor is a dream come true, for both me and mum who is a Strictly super fan! At the moment I'm focusing on the excitement and glitter and choosing to ignore the fact that I have the dancing ability of a newly born giraffe. Bring it on!"
Perhaps best known for her appearances as newsreader Susan on The Mash Report and its successor, Late Night Mash, Ellie is an acclaimed stand-up comic with a string of hit shows to her name over the past decade.
Her debut book, My Child And Other Mistakes, was published in July 2021 and became a Sunday Times best-seller.
Strictly Come Dancing Series 20 will launch later in September and run until just before Christmas.
Ellie Taylor's Safe Space
Comedian Ellie Taylor has some opinions she'd like to get off her chest. In her brand new series, she discusses her views through stand-up, sketches and with help from the studio audience and her side-kick, Robin Morgan.
First, Ellie looks at parenting and considers: has having kids ruined her life? To discuss it further she welcomes a special parenting expert...her mum.
Next she considers whether masculinity has had unfairly poor press and Robin Morgan asks members of the British public about their attitudes to men being men. She also welcomes a special guest, a man who knows all about how men should behave: Rupert Wesson from etiquette guide Debrett's.
And what about the environment? Is the planet really worth saving? Ellie's not so sure, but to help talk it through she meets Ed Stafford, the first man to walk the length of the Amazon.
In the final episode, Ellie turns her attention to marriage and wonders whether monogamy is all it's cracked up to be...despite being married herself.

Ellie Taylor - My Child And Other Mistakes
My Child And Other Mistakes is the honest lowdown on motherhood and all its grisly delights, asking the questions no one wants to admit to asking themselves - do I want a child? Do I have a favourite? Do I wish I hadn't had one and spent the money on a kitchen island instead?
Stand-up comic, broadcaster and actress Ellie Taylor is relatable, clever and interested in how women can have it all. Her honest, hilarious and moving account of the whys and hows of having a baby makes perfect reading for expectant mothers and fathers everywhere, as well as those who've been there, done that, and wonder how on earth they did.
In this very funny book she writes candidly about her own personal experience exploring the decision to have a baby when she doesn't even like them, the importance of cheese during pregnancy, why she took hair straighteners to the labour ward, plus the apocalyptic new-born days, childcare, work and the inevitable impact on life and love and most importantly, her breasts.
