BBC Studios has announced a creative partnership with Jamie Demetriou.
The multi-year agreement will see Demetriou co-develop and co-produce new projects through BBC Studios' production scripted portfolio and his own People Day Limited.
BBC Studios says: "One of the UK's leading comedy actors, writer-performers and character comedians, Jamie Demetriou was the recipient of a fourth BAFTA award last month for his performance in the series Stath Lets Flats, the critically acclaimed comedy which he wrote and stars in as the titular character.
"Earlier this year he starred in Apple TV+ series The Afterparty in addition to previous roles in Hulu's The Great and popular movies such as Cruella, The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain and Netflix's Eurovision. He was recently cast in Barbie, the upcoming live- action comedy, alongside Margot Robbie and comedic talent Will Ferrell. Jamie will also be seen in Disney's upcoming live-action Pinocchio.
"BBC Studios has an established relationship with Jamie Demetriou, acting as international distributor for Stath Lets Flats, bringing the hilarious antics of the chaotic but well-meaning Greek-Cypriot lettings agent to audiences in markets such as the US, Canada, Australia and of course, Greece."
Demetriou has most recently been seen co-starring in Ellie & Natasia, the sketch show created by his sister Natasia Demetriou and long-time collaborator Ellie White.
Jamie Demetriou comments: "I love TV. I love comedy. I love scripts. So I jumped at the chance to blend all three for BBC Studios. I'm genuinely so flattered that they wanted me to make some stuff. Because if there's one thing I love more than stuff, it's making it. Let's get laughing!"
Jonathan Blyth, Director of Commercial & Partnerships for Comedy at BBC Studios, says: "Jamie is one of the most gifted and sought after comics in the country. We're thrilled that he has chosen to develop his next scripted projects with BBC Studios and that we will play an active role in bringing his creative ideas to life for domestic and international audiences. We are delighted to build on the relationship we have established with Jamie and can't wait to get started."
