Johnny Vegas is returning to stand-up comedy.
The comedian will start off by hosting comedy nights at Just The Tonic clubs across the UK, trying out new material for "a much anticipated come back".
Vegas started his comedy career in the 1990s as a live performer. In his anarchic early shows he would sometimes make pottery items, using the skills he learnt whilst studying art and ceramics at Middlesex University. In recent years he has spent time away from comedy clubs, pursuing acting and writing jobs.
However, the comedian has now signed up to host nights at Just the Tonic clubs in Leicester (15 February), Reading (29 February), Birmingham (6 March) and Camden (21 March) with "others to be confirmed soon."
The club says: "A fantastic compere and long-time Just The Tonic friend, Johnny has been given free rein to try out new material in some of his favourite clubs and give fans the opportunity to see him as he works towards a brand new show."
Kicking off the first gig in Leicester in February, Johnny will also host Shooting the Breeze with Johnny Vegas, a show in which he talks to Just The Tonic founder Darrell Martin.
Darrell Martin says: "I have been booking Johnny since 1996 and, as far as I'm concerned, he's the best comedian in the country. It's great to be able to see him doing what he does best and what made him famous. I can't wait."
Tickets for all gigs are on sale from justthetonic.com
