Comedian Dominic Frisby has been selected to run for Parliament.

The libertarian, right-wing, Leave-voting comic has been chosen by The Brexit Party to stand at the next General Election to become MP for the constituency of Old Bexley and Sidcup in south east London.

The seat is currently represented by Conservative MP James Brokenshire, and achieved a 62.4% vote for Leave in the 2016 EU referendum.

Frisby is currently performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in his show Libertarian Love Songs.

Dominic says of his selection: "We're in the midst of a global political revolution, in which the hegemony of bland, Third-Way, centrists in unravelling. The distinction is no longer between left versus right, but authoritarian versus libertarian. In the UK, our glorious leaders are struggling to come to terms with this groundbreaking new concept called democracy. If the people vote for something, then it must be implemented, not subverted.

"Brexit has caught the British establishment with its trousers down, and exposed our system of rule for the sham that it is. There is something so much better to be had. I'd like to help in some way to make it happen.

"It begins, like most things, on the fringe. While politicians enjoy their summer holiday, I shall be singing my heart out here in Edinburgh on behalf of freedom, democracy and the good people of Old Bexley and Sidcup."

Dominic Frisby: Libertarian Love Songs is performed every day at 5pm at The Banshee Labyrinth.
