Richard Ayoade hosts The Crystal Maze - First pictures
The first pictures have been released of The IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade hosting the new version of The Crystal Maze.
The cult TV adventure gameshow is due to return to screens for a full series this June, following on from the success of the one-off Stand Up For Cancer special that was hosted by Stephen Merchant.
The main picture (below) shows Ayoade taking centre stage in front of the all-new Crystal Dome.
As was the case in the original show which ran from 1990 to 1995 with hosts Richard O'Brien and Ed Tudor-Pole, the new series will see teams of five contestants navigating the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Future zones of the maze. They will face a range of skill, mystery, physical and mental challenges to win crystals that equate to time in the final test - the legendary Crystal Dome.
The series is filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, where a purpose built maze spanning over 30,000 square feet has been created by the original Crystal Maze designer, James Dillon. A batch of celebrity specials in aid of Stand Up To Cancer are also being filmed.
The Crystal Maze arrives on Channel 4 in June.
