Channel 4 have announced Jon Richardson Grows Up, a three-part series in which Jon Richardson will examine what it takes to be a 'Happy Adult'.

The stand-up comedian and star of 8 Out Of 10 Cats will embark on a road trip with fellow comedian Matt Forde that will 'not only enlighten him, but the whole of the UK'.

The producers explain: "Mortgages, marriage and parenthood - all big words from the 'Adult World' that strike fear into the heart of 30-somethings everywhere. Now, award-winning comedian Jon Richardson will get to grips with the real big issues in his brand new show for Channel 4 Jon Richardson Grows Up.

"This is not just a do-gooders guide to 'growing as a person' - Jon and his best mate, fellow comedian and optimist Matt 'Fordie' Forde, are going on a good old fashioned road-trip around Britain. The pair will travel in a campervan meeting people from all walks of life who have unique views on what it means to be 'grown-up'."

Having spent most of his twenties 'fretting the small stuff', Richardson aims to tackle life's big topics and 'take stock of it all' in the three episodes. He says: "Having wasted my 20's dusting skirting boards and devising intricate filing systems for my possessions, I'm determined not to waste the next decade of my life.

"The 30's also feel like a more momentous decade than my 20s - my thoughts involuntarily turning towards more permanent things, relationships that will last and where I want to settle down. But I'm still at an age where I should be enjoying my freedom and taking risks and making mistakes.

"I'm keen to find out about the big things in life - money, children and relationships as I have lots and lots of big scary questions about them. Matt, along with some of the contributors we'll meet on the way, will challenge my thinking and will create an honest, heartfelt and funny TV guide to growing up."

Channel 4's Madeleine Knight comments: "Jon is a hilarious man and a unique comedic talent. It's exciting to take him from behind the 8 Out Of 10 Cats desk and send him across the country to find answers to life's biggest questions. I very much look forward to seeing him grow up - but not too much."

Jon Richardson Grows Up will be shown on Channel 4 later in the year.

Richardson has previously starred in The Real Man's Road Trip alongside fellow 8 Out Of 10 Cats team captain Sean Lock.

As previously reported, Richardson is also recording a pilot for Channel 4 called Jon Richardson's Unpredictable. Due to be filmed tonight (15th May), the panel show is based around "the most unpredictable questions that people ask on internet search engines".

A new series of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown will be shown in June. Guests include Jonathan Ross, Bill Bailey, Freddie Flintoff, Jo Brand, Jason Manford, Vic Reeves, Claudia Winkleman, Josh Widdicombe and Stephen Mangan.
