Preview - Bucket

A sitcom starring Miriam Margolyes sounds like it should be recipe for success.

Ian Wolf, On The Box, 13th April 2017

New comedy-drama, created by and starring Frog Stone, in which Fran (Stone) helps dying mum Mim (the irrepressible Miriam Margolyes) fulfil her bucket list via a road trip. This one relies heavily on Margolyes doing her sweetly outrageous thing ("Did I tell you about the time I fellated a smurf?" etc), which is fine, but there's a peculiar sort of roteness and sourness to it also, at least at this stage. Admirably honest, though, and possibly worth sticking with

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, stars of Ride Along 2 (sadly, the original action comedy didn't immediately evaporate on contact with auditoriums), join the cheeky pixie from Clondalkin to flog their product. Elsewhere, well, you know the drill: an audience member will be invited to the red chair to tell a true-life tale that will shock and amaze anybody who's never thrown up or passed wind, before being flipped into chatshow purgatory. Can't we just have Miriam Margolyes back again?

Radio Times review

Sue Limb's literary parody (sorry, "Rhapsody about Bohemians") is back for a third series. Hitler may be causing trouble in Europe, but for the self-obsessed Bloomsbury artistes life continues uninterrupted. Vita Sackcloth-Vest (Miriam Margolyes) is still hiding her steamy romance with Venus Traduces. Naturally, Venus's unexpected arrival at Sizzlinghurst leads to a sub-Wodehouse imbroglio of fake names and Marxist spies.

There's something charmingly disrespectful about Gloomsbury, particularly Alison Steadman's Ginny Fox character (a merciless send-up of Virginia Woolf). If you're misty-eyed about all things Bloomsbury, and calling DH Lawrence "Dave Lollipop" makes you smile, Gloomsbury is sure to raise a chuckle.

Tristram Fane Saunders, Radio Times, 29th May 2015

With Miriam Margolyes on the checkout, you would think this supermarket comedy would be funny, but despite a strong ensemble cast, Trollied is still short-changing viewers in the laughs department. Samuel Anderson is great as the exasperated boss battling his way through first-aid training, as Brian (Stephen Tompkinson) spouts David Brent-esque words of wisdom. Elsewhere, Neville (Dominic Coleman) is desperate to stand up to his evil ex-wife, and when Linda (Faye McKeever) gets involved it produces moderately slapstick results.
