Miranda Hart: comedy chased away my childhood anxiety
Apparently, I was rather serious as a child. My mother told me a story about how on a hot summer's day once, aged about five, I was chatting to my parents and grandparents while walking backwards and, unbeknown to me, the paddling pool was a lot closer than I realised. I fell backwards (mid-chat) into the pool, to their hysterics, especially as they could see it all coming, and to my deep and severe lack of amusement - which, of course, made it even funnier.
