Don't Hate The Playaz to return for Series 3
Don't Hate The Playaz is returning for a third series. The ITV2 panel and music show resumes filming on Friday.
British Comedy Guide, 14th September 2020Sound the Iggy Pop klaxon because the lean tune machine is tonight's star guest. Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul is also in the house to talk about new movie El Camino, joined by current queen of everything Maya Jama and the ever-charming Jack Whitehall. Sam Fender brings his gritty croon to music corner.
Hannah Verdier, The Guardian, 19th October 2019It is an intrinsically American format, the late-night talkshow, but Twitter comedian-turned-host Mo Gilligan has had a good go at bringing it home. The sketches are hit and miss, but the guests have been a solid selection of established names (Steve Coogan, Mel B, Danny Dyer) and relative upstarts (Maya Jama, Tom Davis), while Gilligan's easy confidence always carries the night. This is the last in the series; fingers crossed for a recommission.
Ellen E Jones, The Guardian, 23rd August 2019Gilligan's confident comedy chatshow has been unpredictable and fun so far, mixing eclectic lineups with musical and comic set pieces in a way that is fresh without being revolutionary. Interacting with both the host and the audience tonight are Kelis, Joe Lycett and Maya Jama.
Jack Seale, The Guardian, 9th August 2019Don't Hate The Playaz Series 2 confirmed
ITV2 has ordered a second series of its high-energy panel show Don't Hate The Playaz. The series will be shown in the autumn.
British Comedy Guide, 30th May 2019We have had lip-sync showdowns and comedy roast-offs, so it's odd that rap battles haven't become a TV fixture. Correcting that is this series, which this week sees teams featuring the likes of Lisa Maffia, Lady Leshurr and Maya Jama face off, all presumably hoping to avoid an 8 Mile "mom's spaghetti" situation.
Gwilym Mumford, The Guardian, 18th October 2018ITV2 to launch comedy entertainment show Don't Hate The Playaz
ITV2 is to launch Don't Hate The Playaz, an 'anarchic comedy entertainment show' that will aim to 'celebrate all things rap and hip-hop.'
