Radio Times review

The wedding/pregnancy storyline comes to a head in a riotous series finale. Nervy bride/mum-to-be Fidelma is sounding off at her inept dad, while young Martin senses a distinct cooling-off from his free-spirit girlfriend Majella. It's a tense time, then, and it only takes a spilt bowl of Coco Pops for disaster to ensue.

Anyhoo, there's a bounty of small comic riches from Chris O'Dowd's hand-picked ensemble (Mark Doherty has come into his own as Father Linehan), and the fact that it's St Patrick's Day has majestic significance for one extended gag.

The best kind of farce, ie it's funny.

Radio Times review

Fidelma Moone is trying on veils while eating for two, and Ma is planning an unwanted hen night. Yes, Fidelma's wedding to drippy Dessie is mere days away, and young Martin seeks an escape. Perhaps he'll find it in Majella, from the travellers' community that's just moved into a neighbouring field.

With the bride-to-be falling asleep among the hens, and Father Linehan (hilarious Mark Doherty) hosting the stag do in church, raucous isn't quite the word for the festivities. But fear not, things degenerate... It's a superbly wince-worthy episode, with a defining moment for Martin that brings a tear to the eye of imaginary pal Sean.
