Last Saturday night, I went to see an unadvertised comedy/music gig at the Wibbley Wobbley, a (still just about) floating former Rhine cruiser now moored at Greenland Dock, Rotherhithe, by the River Thames in London. Regular readers of this blog will realise this was where comedian Malcolm Hardee drowned in January 2005 and that the Wibbley Wobbley was his floating pub/club.

We hope to stage the annual Malcolm Hardee Comedy Awards Show this year, as usual, on the final Friday of the Edinburgh Fringe - 26th August - but not in its normal venue of the Counting House Ballroom. This is because, today, The Gilded Balloon (a pay-to-enter venue) has 'poached' The Counting House venue(s) - including the Pear Tree and Blind Poet - from the Laughing Horse Free Festival and so we are looking for a new venue in which to host both the increasingly prestigious (but now homeless) Malcolm Hardee Comedy Awards and for the daily Grouchy Club.

My afternoon was then taken up by getting the increasingly prestigious Malcolm Hardee Comedy Award trophies engraved and boiling eggs for the annual Scottish National Russian Egg Roulette Championships which were to take place at the increasingly prestigious two-hour Malcolm Hardee Comedy Awards Show that night.

Malcolm Hardee - 10 years dead & his Awards are working

The first award in 2005 was intended as a one-off to mark his passing and was called the Oy Oy Award because we couldn't think of anything better but, in 2007, it became the annual Malcolm Hardee Comedy Award. And there are now three annual Malcolm Hardee Awards, due to run until 2017 because that's the number of awards I got made, on the basis I might not be able to afford to have any more made after 2017. Amazing foresight on my part.
