Malcolm was famous for his stunts at the Fringe. One of the most famous was writing a review of his own show which he conned The Scotsman newspaper into publishing in 1989.

Ben Venables, The Skinny, 11th July 2017How to win a Malcolm Hardee Award...
The Malcolm Hardee Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe are all about originality. This blog is a lazy re-hash of a piece I wrote last year. Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 11th December 2016Wibbley Wobbley boat has re-appeared somewhere else
Bruce Dessau asked me for a quote which he could add to the news item he had written on his Beyond The Joke website. I gave him a quote but suggested he should just make up a much better one and claim that I had said it - something of which I think Malcolm would have approved.
