Lorna is a Bristol based comedy writer and somewhat of a latecomer to the writing world (she was 39 before she wrote her first script). Having spent most of her career as an assistant director on various TV shows such as Ab Fab, Jonathan Creek and Saxondale (to name a few), and films including Troy and I'll Be There, she left ADing to be a mum - a terrible career move!
Lorna's first attempt at script writing made it to the top 4% of the BBC Writersroom submissions for that year and since then, she has won and placed highly in some of the industry's top writing competitions: BAFTA Rocliffe, Funny Women, International Page Awards, Sitcom Mission etc.. She has also had a script selected by The Female Pilot Club who organized a performance by some incredible comedy talent; Robert Webb, Kerry Howard and Maggie Ollrenshaw, at The Museum Of Comedy.
Since first putting pen to paper (or Courier New to Final Draft) Lorna has written for Have I Got News For You, been part of a writersroom for Turtle Canyon's online sitcom Content Content, written jokes for Helen Lederer and is currently in funded development with Rope Ladder Fiction. She also has a Comedy Drama with Company Pictures, a Sitcom with Adorable Media and a Short Film with Buffalo Dragon.
Lorna is mentored by David Quantick (The Thick Of It, VEEP), and is represented by Christina Pickworth at Imagine Talent. She is also a BAFTA Connect member.
