Leslie Phillips CBE was an English actor who rose to prominence during the 1950s, starring in a number of films and also appearing on radio and television. With a suave, sophisticated demeanour he played almost exclusively upper or upper-middle class roles, and is noted for appearing in the Carry On films, Doctor films, plus sitcoms Casanova '73 and The Navy Lark.
