The Real Ken Dodd film lobbies for creation of national comedy museum

Ken Dodd is to be the subject of a major new documentary celebrating his life and legacy, with hopes that the film will help realise his dream for a national comedy museum. The Real Ken Dodd: The Man I Loved will premiere at the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds on 9th June, when the performing space in the Victorian theatre is renamed The Sir Ken Dodd Auditorium in honour of his many appearances at the venue.

Review: The Unfriend

Lee Mack and Frances Barber excel in Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat's comedy.

Gabriel Curteis, A Young(ish) Perspective, 12th January 2024

The Unfriend review

Headed by new faces Lee Mack and Sarah Alexander, a refreshed cast for The Unfriend has now been unwrapped and let loose on this comedy but it is still one of the biggest headscratchers in the West End.

Franco, Theatre & Tonic, 11th January 2024

The Unfriend review

Returning to the West End after a successful run last year, Steven Moffat's seriously silly play dispels the Winter blues with its excruciating comedy of manners.

Claire Roderick, Fairy Powered Productions, 11th January 2024

The Unfriend review

Perhaps because it is created by a writer of the calibre of Moffatt, there are high expectations for the play, yet, ironically giving how much Moffatt can twist a tale, the stakes are never raised high enough, it all feels a little safe.

Paul T Davies, BritishTheatre.com, 11th January 2024

The Unfriend review

The Unfriend is a perfect night out at the theatre if what you need is uncontrollable laughter. You'll not only chuckle your heart out, but also be invested in an expertly written comic storyline that is a must-see.

James Robertson, The Reviews Hub, 11th January 2024

The Unfriend review

Lee Mack is in his element in Steven Moffat's comedy of manners.

Olivia Rook, London Theatre, 11th January 2024

Review: The Unfriend

The comedy of embarrassment returns, but wastes much of its talents on a script that gets its share of laughs but never quite adds up.

Gary Naylor, Broadway World, 11th January 2024

The Unfriend review

The Unfriend makes for an enjoyable night out, especially for fans of the cast members who want to see them in a familiar role.

Rachel Creeger, Funny Women, 10th January 2024

The Unfriend review

This isn't a show with any claims to substance, character development or insight on the world. It is simply a light, frothy, undemanding slice of West End escapism.
