Lara Ricote and Sikisa Bostwick-Barnes have each won this year's £500 bursaries given to female and non-binary acts by London's 99 Club.

This year the Funny Women Awards Grand Final was back at the Bloomsbury Theatre where Mexican born, Amsterdam-based comedian Lara Ricote impressed our judging panel so much with her wit and physical comedy she was named the winner of this year's Stage Award. We caught up with Lara to talk about her comedy and how it feels to win!

One word for Lara Ricote: Wow! The Mexican-born, Dutch-based comic exploded onto the vast stage with several megawatts of vibrant energy - an electric presence for funny, sparkly, self-deprecating stories of her sexual inexperience. Her funny bones are apparent, and she has a well-used knack for physical comedy, too. It was instantly obvious she would be the one to beat... but no one could. Her victory was surely a runaway one.
