Karen Koren - Gilded Balloon 30th anniversary interview
Thirty years ago Karen Koren formed the Gilded Balloon, one of today's largest, most successful venues on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In a frank and fascinating interview, Karen takes Martin Walker through the history of the venue, from its origins in the Alternative Comedy scene to the fire at its then home in Edinburgh's Cowgate. She also talks openly about how big money is changing the Fringe and explains what on earth she was doing with those Chippendales.

Chris Addison, a stand-up comedian who has made it, worked front of house for us when he was still a student. Craig Hill also worked in our box office before he was lured into comedy.

Katie Mulgrew was the capable compere. Katie is from Manchester and started doing comedy because of her famous father. Well, we say famous; he was well known in the 70s and 80s as Jimmy Cricket. He is Northern Irish and was known for his distinctive outfit, cut-off trousers, tuxedo, hat and wellies always on the wrong feet.
Karen Koren, Edinburgh Evening News, 10th February 2015Search on for the next Jack Whitehall
Every year begins with such optimism, the trick is to believe that it is all going to work. I've got to believe that I am going to find the next Bill Bailey, Tim Minchin or John Bishop. That's what I will be aiming for at least.

Karen Koren, The Scotsman, 16th February 2012Big Yin shrinks from hecklers
It's ironic that during the run of my TV series, Late 'n' Live Guide To Comedy on BBC Scotland, the stand-up scene should explode due to the most talented stand-up in the world cutting short his shows because of hecklers.
Karen Koren, The Scotsman, 9th February 2012It's never too late to learn
Imagine having your own TV series on BBC One on your birthday... well that's what happened to me this week. All went well, with friends forcing themselves to stay up later than usual on a school night. Thank God for the TV recording apparatus - so many people either recorded Late 'n' Live Guide To Comedy or watched it on BBC iPlayer.

Bill Bailey - what a talented man! A few friends and I were lucky enough to have the directors' box at the Playhouse last night, where he wowed with his brilliant show, Dandelion Mind (Gently Modified).
