British Comedy Guide, 31st January 2017No sooner has The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year conga'd by, than a new series returns with more questions pertaining to the past 100,000 years of human history. Jonathan Ross, David Walliams, Katherine Ryan, Aisling Bea, Noel Fielding and Richard Ayoade will once again be answering headscratchers posed by Jimmy Carr, such as why do tennis players wear white? And what diet did William the Conqueror attempt?
Ali Catterall, The Guardian, 6th January 2017Preview - Big Fat Quiz of Everything
Jimmy Carr hosts the show that's bigger, fatter, and quizzier than ever, letting loose on not just the year-gone-by but well... everything.
Gareth Hargreaves, On The Box, 6th January 2017Andrew Sachs' wife slams 'filthy' Ross and Brand
Andrew Sachs's wife has broken her silence on the "hurtful" messages Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand once left on her late husband's answer phone.
The Daily Express, 10th December 2016Sachsgate, the Mail & becoming offended second hand
Mark Boosey yesterday pointed out that only two people who heard the broadcast on transmission had been offended (perhaps only one) and it had taken eight days for 1,583 other people to have been offended second-hand. What it all proves I do not know, but it must prove something. I personally thought what was broadcast (which I have listened to) was way-way-over-the-line into unacceptable offensiveness.
John Fleming, John Fleming's Blog, 13th October 2016New series of the word-wrangling panel show, with guests including David Walliams (AKA all the Carry On films stuffed into one suit) and Jonathan Ross (who brings along some cat nappies as a mascot). Isy Suttie is in Dictionary Corner alongside Susie Dent, Jon Richardson has brought a Ouija board to assist him ("at various points I may go into a trance-like state"), and there are two faintly rude-sounding anagrams for you to untangle.
Ali Catterall, The Guardian, 24th September 2016Very British Problems - very funny!
This summer I am on the lookout for funny shows to help balance the rest of my responsibilities. At the same time, I have expanding my viewing options by looking into programs from abroad. I have recently run across the perfect mix of the two in Very British Problems.
Pat Jackson, TV Equals, 4th July 2016Acceptable banter with intermittent sporting references as the quiz series continues. Tonight's guests include Jonathan Ross and Chris Kamara, the famously haphazard Sky football pundit. The quiz itself is fair enough, and reveals Frank Lampard to be capable of justifying his alleged genius-level IQ in his solo round. Still, Jonathan Ross is a far better host than guest, and Kamara is wont to seize the limelight whenever possible, making for uncomfortable viewing.
