Laurence Owen - a Pervland pasticher

His show Lullabies of Pervland has a humdinger of a song about how women's roles in Disney movies are defined and limited - it has wonderfully complex and intelligent lyrics performed by Laurence to a perfect pastiche of the whole gamut of Disneyesque tunes.

Teaching the Germans British humour?

Last night, before this month's ever-original Pull The Other One comedy show in South London, I talked to Martin Soan who organises both it and the Pull The Other One shows in Germany. He and his wife Vivienne have so far staged three in Leipzig this year.

'No, I was not bounced on Bernard Manning's knee"

"I don't have a blog today," I told Matt Roper this afternoon. "You'll have to give me one. I always tell people that, as a boy, you were bounced on Bernard Manning's knee and you say you weren't. There must be a blog in that."

Yesterday, my blog was about the rise of storytelling nights in the UK - I was talking to comedians Matt Price/Michael Kossew at Soho Theatre in London. About two minutes after they left, John Henry Falle wandered past. He is a quarter of The Beta Males comedy group and 100% of The Story Beast.

Why Peep Show led one American to love British comedy

I have had a Twitter account - @thejohnfleming - since March 2009 but, honestly, I have never got the hang of it. Nonetheless, people follow me - only 2,026 at the moment, but every little helps. Naomi Rohatyn started to follow me last week. Her profile says: "Wildly unsuccessful comedy writer in LA. Aspiring to become wildly unsuccessful comedy writer in London."
