Giada Garofalo on terrorism, porn and comedy

Tonight, I am off to see the London-based Italian language comics of Il Puma Londinese preview their Edinburgh Fringe show at Kate Copstick's Mama Biashara charity shop in London. I talked to one of them - Giada Garofalo - about her upcoming Edinburgh solo show, catchily titled Live in The Staff Room (Sex, Fairytales, Serial Killers and Other Stuff).

China sponsors a Fringe comedy show

Comedian Matt Roper is staying in my spare bedroom until the Edinburgh Fringe starts in August. In the middle of last night, he posted this on his Facebook page.

Daphna Baram, the alien police, the Fringe & a Royal

Daphna Baram - an Israeli - has been here for several years and has two shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in August - Bombs, Booze and Haggis Strikes Back and Something to Declare.

Burt Lancaster's sexual attack on comic Sara Mason

Sara Mason's first full-length Edinburgh Fringe show is billed as comedy and is titled Burt Lancaster Pierced My Hymen (When I Was 11). This is not hyperbole. It is true - with all that the title implies.

Juliette Burton complicates Fringe venues even more

The Edinburgh Fringe venues in August are already guaranteed to be a mess with the Cowgatehead debacle (subject of already too many earlier blogs) meaning many 'free' shows will be in the wrong venues and/or at the wrong times or will not exist at all. Now I have discovered even some 'pay' venues will be slightly confusing.

How to promote an Edinburgh Fringe show

Yesterday ended surreally with (after the show ended) a member of the audience asking marriage advice from Lewis Schaffer. This is a bit like Peter Buckley Hill (the PBH of PBH Free Fringe) giving advice to a comedian on how to develop and handle a PR strategy at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Mel Moon - Sick Girl dicing with death away from Fringe

Amy Howerska, sassy comedian raised by trained killers

Comedian Amy Howerska's Edinburgh Fringe show in August will be called Sasspot. The publicity blurb for it says she was "raised by a pack of trained killers". This understates the truth quite considerably.

Fringe act quits PBH Free Fringe over the Cowgatehead

So I received an e-mail from Mark Davison. "You mentioned a few blog entries ago that you weren't sure if anyone would withdraw from PBH as a result of the Cowgatehead fiasco, so I wanted to give you first refusal on publishing my own statement of withdrawal."

Cowgatehead casualty Christian Talbot and his daughter

He told me: "There are a load of people - I was talking to them this morning - they've re-applied to the PBH Free Fringe and haven't heard anything back and they're waiting on Freestival stuff and it's just... I mean, it's really heartbreaking to... I know about ten or twelve people very personally, really good friends, who are... they just have no venue now... They've really become very, very disillusioned."
