The Tyneside titter merchant invites another unwitting audience back to the bowels of his basement for a bucketful of banter. Guests joining the titular cellar-dweller tonight are Towie mainstay-turned-factual frontman Joey Essex and Almost Royal aristo-impersonator Ed Gamble. Expect the usual extravaganza of party games and curious challenges, including a physical train-based trial set by England rugby star James Haskell.

This week, Harry invites an often bemused but nonetheless game Joey Essex on to his teatime show, to embrace a children's theme. The pair make savoury envelopes using popular crisp brands (an exercise that betrays Joey's unfamiliarity with the inner workings of the post office); a series of chocolate crispy Unesco world heritage sites; and a replica of Sesame Street's Elmo from sweetcorn, paint, Solvite and scotch eggs. It is, as ever, a delight.

Saturday nigh''s strangest primetime distraction - an unsettling splice of The Generation Game and The Manchurian Candidate - continues. Pro mesmeriser Keith Barry puts five civilian contestants under before the cameras start rolling, enabling him to rewire their behaviour on the fly as they tackle a series of simple challenges in pursuit of a £25,000 prize. Smoothing over the most erratic behaviour is unflappable host Phillip Schofield, this week joined by superbike star Carl Fogarty and docile reality hunk Joey Essex.

Looking back on what has been a notably depressing year, it might seem a near-impossible task to pick out moments worthy of levity. Thankfully, that is the job of Jimmy Carr and regular team captains Jon Richardson and Sean Lock, old hands at refashioning the awfulness of the real world into digestible chunks of frippery. Panellists Isy Suttie, Richard Osman, Joey Essex and Romesh Ranganathan assist them, while elsewhere games and surprises are promised.

Controversial new series in which celebrities have their social media accounts scrutinised for embarrassing facts, before being humiliated until they use their safe word. Rick Edwards hosts and Katherine Ryan and David Morgan are among the comedians who roast. The first victims are lovable loon Joey Essex and boxer David Haye, who go in for a verbal joust. It's the show that Sinitta called "vile" and she may be on to something as Joey's Twitter account is hacked to make a spoof announcement that he's going to be a dad. Cheap lolz.
