Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie review

Some were trepidatious about this belated big-screen outing for the fashionista sitcom. In fact, post-referendum, the timing couldn't be better ... and neither could Joanna Lumley.

Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian, 30th June 2016

Film review: 'Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie'

Structure is as much anathema to Saunders' writing style as it is to her alter ego's entire lifestyle; this is the comedic equivalent of paintball, and when her splatter-shots land, they do so to raucous effect.

Absolutely Fabulous: The movie - bolly good show!

The jokes spring out at you from our crumpled old friends, sharp and fresh and pleasingly tasteless.

Libby Purves, Daily Mail, 30th June 2016

Review - Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie

BBC comedy makes a wobbly transfer to the big screen but its two delicious lead performances keep the comedy fizzing along.

'Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie': Review

"All I ever wanted was not to be fat and old!" cries PR guru and bad gran Edina Monsoon, bewailing the time when "the zeitgeist used to run right through me". As her best friend Patsy injects herself with Botox, flips through Tinder and quaffs Chanel No 5 because they've run out of Bolly, it's clear that writer/star Jennifer Saunders hasn't lost her touch over the quarter century since these characters were first conceived for TV.

Fionnuala Halligan, Screen Daily, 30th June 2016

Film Review: Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie

A personal appearance by the Queen herself would do little to distract from the joyous, film-driving chemistry between Saunders and Lumley, two effervescent pros who fit each other as comfortably as a sensible pair of flat-heeled shoes.

Guy Lodge, Variety, 30th June 2016

Kate Moss joins all the stars on the gold carpet

As London's Leicester Square fetes the long-awaited premiere of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, see which stars have turned out to grace the golden carpet with series stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.

'Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie': film review

An endearing shambles, much like the original show.

Leslie Felperin, Hollywood Reporter, 29th June 2016

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie - review

British sitcoms face particular challenges when they attempt the big screen, since the charm of our comedy is that it tends to be small scale, low-budget and full of interestingly unglamorous people. Ab Fab largely escapes that parochial feel thanks to its implausibly wealthy fashion setting, yet this chaotic stumble onto the big screen somehow still comes close to disaster.

Helen O'Hara, Empire, 29th June 2016

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie - wearing its yeas well

The plotting is lazy, but this big-screen reboot of the much-loved sitcom gets by thanks to its stars and to the endless goodwill cameos.

Donald Clarke, The Irish Times, 29th June 2016
