O'Briain, Whitehall & Richardson host Comic Relief gig

Jack Whitehall, John Richardson and Dara O'Briain have raised the fundraising bar to an astonishing 35,000 feet after performing a gig for Comic Relief on a BA flight.

Tim Clark, Spoonfed, 14th March 2011

An hour of stand-up recorded at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh, and showcasing some of the most popular comedians from the annual August comedy festival. Among them are Sean Lock (drily witty QI regular), Jack Whitehall (startlingly young, with endearingly shambolic delivery), Emo Philips (master of the one-liner) and Adam Hills (relentlessly cheerful Australian). Presented by Shappi Khorsandi.

Simon Horsford, The Telegraph, 13th January 2011

Time to forget all your troubles, kick back, relax and laugh at a show you probably saw back in April. The O2 Arena plays host to literally quite a few comedians in a show put on to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity; so even if the likes of Jack Whitehall, Jason Manford, Michael McIntyre and James Corden aren't funny then at least some good will come from this. There are plenty of good turns here as well from David Mitchell, Jo Brand, Sean Lock and Kevin Eldon.

Kevin Bridges, rising star of the comedy circuit, heads up Live at the Apollo tonight. The Glaswegian presents his dry, sardonic take on Scottish life, celebrity and the media with witty aplomb. Impressive, considering he's still in his early twenties. Joining him is Jack Whitehall and Shappi Khorsandi.

Lucy Jones, The Telegraph, 17th December 2010

Funny Scot Kevin Bridges hosts this week's stand-up show. He's a capable compere with a honed routine on dads, specifically the point at which children realise theirs is a bit of a twit. (Bridges uses a different word, but we'll assume that you're reading this before the watershed.) Tonight's guests are Iranian-born comic Shappi Khorsandi, who uses her recent marriage breakdown to fuel a short, sharp routine on divorce, but the big laughs come from comedian number two, self-confessed posh boy Jack Whitehall. There's a whiff of Russell Brand about the south-west Londoner. He spits out a frantic, furious anecdote about going to school with Robert Pattinson (lead vampire in the Twilight films) and it's hilarious.

Ruth Margolis, Radio Times, 17th December 2010

A repeat of C4's live comedy extravaganza from London's 02 Arena earlier this year in which 23 of our funniest people (and Michael McIntyre) competed to win our laughs in aid of Great Ormond Street Children's Charity. Take your pick from Alan Carr, Noel Fielding, Catherine Tate, Bill Bailey, Mitchell & Webb, Jack Dee, Jack Whitehall, Kevin Eldon, Lee Evans, Rob Brydon, Sean Lock, Jo Brand, Jason Manford, Fonejacker, Andy Parsons and Shappi Khorsandi. Phew.

TV review: Dave's One Night Stand

So, The Trouble with British Comedy Today, part 109: Jack Whitehall. There, that didn't take long, did it?

Paul Whitelaw, The Scotsman, 18th October 2010

This new show's format of host comedians revisiting their hometowns as a preamble to the stand-up is already being subverted, with young Jack Whitehall sending up the riches-to-riches story of his own rise to TV fame. He also continues in the tradition of mocking poor old Dave itself, a privilege unavailable to most of its caught-on-repeat inhabitants. He's joined at the Theatre Royal by the worryingly pallid but effective Andrew Lawrence and the musical David O'Doherty, whose targets include YouTube comments and dumbstruck fans of The Wire.

Has any other presenter ever invested their heart and soul in a show as much as Davina McCall did with Big Brother? Not many people would have put as much enthusiasm into their last day at work as she did on the Ultimate Big Brother Final. And how does C4 repay her? By rounding up a bunch of comedians to insult her in an amusing manner. There's gratitude for you.

Jimmy Carr hosts as Patrick Kielty, Jack Whitehall, Rich Hall, Ed Byrne and Debra Stephenson poke fun, with tributes from her showbiz mates such as Dermot O'Leary, Chris Moyles and Julian Clary. Plus, of course, some former housemates, including Sam Pepper.

Sam's unique talent in the house was rubbing people up the wrong way without even trying. Wonder what he'll do to get under Davina's skin now that he's a free man?
