TV drama should stop portraying working-class life as exotic
According to Melvyn Bragg, television -- and the BBC in particular -- is guilty of portraying the working classes as "miserable, broke or in despair". There's so much TV being made that there may be shining examples of modern exceptions that I'm unaware of, but historically speaking his remarks ring true. Which made me both miserable and in despair. Two out of three ain't bad.
