Franz Ferdinand superfan Rose Matafeo played with the band today, in an appearance on ITV daytime magazine show This Morning.

The Starstruck creator and former Edinburgh Comedy Award winner played guitar on the track Take Me Out with the Glaswegian rock band, appearing on the show to celebrate 20 years of performing and their new greatest hits album.

When host Alison Hammond noticed her standing in the background, the Kiwi stand-up merely said that she "won a competition, I wrote into a magazine".

And when her appearance was pointed out on Twitter, she simply added: "No comment."

As related in her award-winning stand-up show Horndog, when Matafeo was 14, she had a crush on Franz Ferdinand's lead singer Alex Kapranos and was kicked off a fan forum for saying she was going to marry the frontman.

Happily, Kapranos got to hear about Horndog and attended a performance of the show during Matafeo's 2018 Edinburgh Fringe run.

The routine about the forum was "completely real", she told Bustle magazine in March. "It was so shameful at the time. And I lived with that shame so long.

"I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm a terrible person.' And the way [it's come] full circle is that I know Alex [Kapranos] now, because of the show and writing that joke. He was at my 30th [birthday party] the other day, which is so lovely."
