Jack Dee recalls his first monkey suit

Jack Dee has been reminiscing about his legendary former agent, the late Addison Cresswell, and his ritual of buying comedians a made-to-measure suit when they joined his Off The Kerb agency.

Appearing on Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett's Parenting Hell podcast, Dee, who was one of OTK's early signings, confirmed to his two agency stablemates that even as the ink was still drying, the larger-than-life Creswell would whisk his future (male) stars off to Mr Eddie's, Soho's oldest bespoke tailors.

Now run by and named after the tailor's son, Chris Kerr, Beckett recalled visiting the London premises and being struck by the "photos from the nineties of all the different comedians in suits".

Arriving for his own fitting, Dee remembered seeing "this huge suit hanging up to be collected ... and then there was a really little suit, a tiny suit.

"And I said, 'who are these for then?'

"And he said, 'oh, this big one is for Robbie Coltrane, he hasn't come in to get it yet.

"'And the other one is for the PG Tips chimpanzee.'

"Based on that, I'll probably have a medium then" Dee concluded.
