The Musical Comedy Awards now have Bill Bailey on board as their official patron.

Writing on social media, the comedy star explained: "I am delighted to be the official patron for the Musical Comedy Awards - a grassroots competition now in its 17th year that was set up to discover, support and celebrate the UK's best up and coming musical comedians. The 2025 competition kicks off on January 11th in London - don't miss the chance to support the next generation of musical comedy talent!"

Founder Ed Chappel says: "I set up the MCA back in 2008 in order to support, discover and celebrate the UK's best up-and-coming musical comedians. Over the years we have had the pleasure of hosting some amazing acts such as Rachel Parris, Abandoman, Bo Burnham and our headliner for this year's final, the unstoppable Jazz Emu. Bill Bailey was one of the main sources of inspiration for setting up the competition and we are over the moon that he is now our official patron!"

48 acts will take part in the heats of the 2025 Musical Comedy Awards, which run at the The Phoenix in central London on Saturday afternoons. The final will be at the Bloomsbury Theatre on Saturday 12th April. To find out more and book tickets visit musicalcomedyawards.com
