Ricky Gervais is donating £1,910,000 to worldwide animal charities, from the extra profits of the Platinum Tickets for his record-breaking Armageddon stand-up tour.

He has split the cash evenly across donations to eleven worldwide animal charities:

All Dogs Matter
Animal SOS Sri Lanka
Catastrophes Cat Rescue
Chaldon Animal Sanctuary
Dogs On The Streets
Helping Rhinos
Millions of Friends
Mira Dogs
Paws2Rescue
PDSA
Wild Futures

The comedian says: "I hope the dogs, cats, rhinos and monkeys invest this money wisely, because when my career goes tits up I'll need it back."

Gervais played 85 sell-out arena dates across the globe throughout 2022 and 2023. In an effort to take action against ticket touts, Platinum Tickets for the Armageddon tour went on sale to guarantee premium seats at market rates, with the extra profits from these ticket sales now going to the comedian's chosen worthwhile causes.

The donations come ahead of the launch of the Armageddon special on Netflix, which be available to stream globally from Christmas Day.

The Netflix release follows a record-breaking tour for the BAFTA, Emmy and Golden-Globe winning comic, with Gervais playing 85 sell-out arena dates across the globe throughout 2022 & 2023.
