Omid Djalili: The Queen told off BBC for editing out my migrant joke
Omid Djalili has revealed that Queen Elizabeth II told off the BBC off for editing out a joke he delivered about immigration.
He closed his set for the 2022 Platinum Jubilee show with a gag related to the migrants being sent to Rwanda, however this was edited out of the TV broadcast.
The Sun quotes the comic as saying: "I'd said, 'Thanks for having me, for the love of God please don't send me to Rwanda'.
"They cut the last minute. The Queen told them off, saying, 'No, let him tell those'.
"I felt very moved when they told me she'd told them off for trying to cut jokes that were close to the edge. She liked that kind of humour."
He also revealed how he once encountered the monarch at an event after he'd taken his tie off. "She'd had a little to drink, she looked down at my collar and went 'Oof', as if to say, 'You dared and you got away with it'."
