Catherine Tate to deliver UK's Eurovision points
Catherine Tate has been appointed as the UK's Eurovision spokesperson. She will deliver the results of the country's voting choices, as part of the live final on Saturday.
She says: "It's very exciting to be announcing the iconic 'douze points' at Eurovision. It's just a foot in the door really as next year I hope to be the UK entrant!"
The BBC notes: "For the first time ever, the UK spokesperson will announce the National Jury scores live from the very same arena where the actual contest is taking place in the UK.
"Catherine follows in the illustrious footsteps of previous spokespeople which includes AJ Odudu, Amanda Holden, Nigella Lawson, Mel Giedroyc, Richard Osman, Alex Jones, Cheryl Baker, Katrina Leskanich (from Katrina & The Waves) and Lorraine Kelly amongst many others."
Tate, who is due to return as Donna in Doctor Who for the sci-fi show's 60th anniversary, is set to launch a new comedy later in 2023. Queen Of Oz sees her play a disgraced member of the Royal Family who is sent to live in Australia.
The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final is on BBC One on Saturday 13th May from 8pm.
