Peter Kay receives award from The O2
Peter Kay has been given an award by The O2 venue to mark his record-breaking run at the London arena.
He performed the first of his monthly shows at the venue on Friday (16th December), where he was presented with a trophy to mark the fact he is the first artist ever to hold a monthly residency at The O2, and that - by the time he has finished his run - he will have broken the record for the most shows played at the arena.
He is set to play a total of 29 shows on the iconic stage by the time his residency ends in April 2025. When those are added to the dates he has played the venue previously, he'll have a total of 44 shows... surpassing previous record-holders Take That, who have performed 34 times at the Greenwich site.
Peter Kay says: "What an absolute honour to play the world famous The O2 - London, let alone a monthly residency. A truly incredible response. Here's to many joyful nights in the years to come."
Emma Bownes, VP of Venue Programming, comments: "We're absolutely thrilled to welcome Peter Kay back to The O2, this month and every month until April 2025. Being the first artist in the world to have a monthly residency at the venue, and to sell out every show is an astonishing achievement, and something we're really proud to have worked on with Peter and SJM Concerts. The first show was incredible and had every audience member in stitches, and we can't wait for many more nights of laughter to come with Peter Kay at The O2."
