The Complete Frank Randle

The Complete Frank Randle
By David L. Williams and Philip Martin Williams

This book delves into the life of the renowned North Country comedian and music hall performer Frank Randle, revealing his unwavering determination and ambition, despite the obstacles he faced to establish himself as one of Britain's finest comedians. Special features include a foreword by comedy historian Robert Ross and additional forewords from Sir Ken Dodd OBE and Carry On star Jack Douglas, plus an afterword by Sir Ian McKellen CH CBE.

Randle was not a conventional stand-up comedian, although he had tried-and-tested jokes in his repertoire. He had several catchphrases, including: "I've supped some ale to 'neet," "Gerroff mi foot," "I'll fettle thee," and "she's a hot 'un." He was well known for characterisations such as 'The Boatman', 'Grandpa', and the classic 'Old Hiker'.

At the peak of his career, Randle was one of the country's top comedy character actors. His variety show, Randle's Scandals, attracted packed audiences, establishing him as a household name. He gained a significant number of fans through starring roles in ten feature films - but today is often forgotten.

Fear not! Many items can still be ordered. Amazon in the UK delivers to many international territories, whilst their Australia, USA and Canada stores also supply many equivalent or imported items.

If you are in the North America, look out for US/Canadian flag icons on popular product listings for direct links.

If you order from a UK store, please note that the UK is in Region 2 and B, respectively, for DVDs and Blu-rays - check your player's compatibility, or look for multi-region products if you are located in another region.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. The UK and Australasia are in the same Blu-ray region (B).
