Eric Sykes was an Oldham-born writer and actor who enjoyed a lengthy film, television, radio and stage career. He is best-remembered for his contributions to The Goon Show; two self-titled long-running sitcom series with Hattie Jacques; and a number of dialogue-free films and TV specials, which he also directed.
