The BBC's complaints unit today reveals that they have investigated the much-loved duo over a comedy sketch they recorded in 1968. The skit featured Irish singer Ronnie Carroll and contained references to the IRA that at least one viewer found offensive enough to complain about.

Eric Morecambe has bar named after him

Legendary comedian Eric Morecambe has had a bar named after him at the Gloucestershire theatre where he last performed. Tragically, the one half of the famous double act of Morecambe and Wise died aged 58 in Cheltenham General Hospital soon after collapsing backstage at The Roses theatre in Tewkesbury, with what was believed to be his third heart attack.
