Cockles (BBC1), the six-part saga of a seedy seaside pavilion is more a downbeat little play than a comedy. The undoubted wow of the night was a dog act, The Carolling Corgis. Not one of them was a corgi or, for that matter, musical but their willing and cheerful rendition of The Teddy Bears' Picnic was beyond all praise. Possibly the whole show should be remade around them and called cockers.
Nancy Banks-Smith, The Guardian, 5th January 1984It was an oddity of Born and Bred that the reunion meal went off very well, if windily. "Happy days... you can say that again... one of the best... this is it, innit... you're all right and Frank's all right and Ray's all right." No doubt this is just like the home life of our own dear Queen but it's not at all like mine.
