David Javerbaum on religion, satire & controversy
God Almighty has been brought to life on the stage. In a new play by the multi-award winning American comedy writer David Javerbaum God, played by Zoe Lyons, wears silk pyjamas and has some 'wrath management issues'. The writer who worked on the hugely popular comedy The Daily Show has adapted the play for a British audience incorporating topical issues like Brexit.
Fatima Manji, Channel 4, 8th December 2019Review: An Act Of God, The Vaults
Don't go to An Act Of God, if you're standing for election -- all politicians are mercilessly dispatched early in the show as of minor importance to the cosmos.
Mike C., Londonist, 2nd December 2019An Act of God review
Zoe Lyons is a pyjama-clad deity with wrath-management issues and a retinue of doubtful angels in David Javerbaum's enjoyable comedy.
Brian Logan, The Guardian, 2nd December 2019Review: An Act of God (The Vaults)
Zoe Lyons takes on the Almighty in David Javerbaum's production this winter.
Alun Hood, What's On Stage, 2nd December 2019Review - An Act of God at the Vaults
In this strange 90-minute satire, God discussed with us her life's work, her creation, incarnate in the form of award-winning comedian Zoe Lyons. Though the audience laughed throughout the play with due diligence, this critic was not particularly tickled by the performance.
Ella Satin, The Upcoming, 2nd December 2019Review: Act Of God, with Zoe Lyons
Act Of God is not an Almighty success. But it is a gently satirical and moderately entertaining, poke at the follies of religion, as ultimately inoffensive as your average Songs Of Praise.
Steve Bennett, Chortle, 2nd December 2019An Act of God review at the Vaults, London
Zoe Lyons plays God in a slick but safe comedy.
Emily Jupp, The Stage, 2nd December 2019An Act of God at The Vaults, London | Review
As God, Zoe Lyons worked extremely hard.
