Michael Gove was in a comedy called A Stab in the Dark

Vote Leave's EU referendum campaign felt like a stab in the dark at times. It's quite fitting then that Michael Gove once appeared in a TV series of the same title. And it was a politics-based comedy. The satire was actually a fairly serious affair in that it appeared on Channel 4 and also featured David Baddiel.

These awards were created by Scholastic, the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, to celebrate the funniest children's books. The full results have just been announced and Baddiel and illustrator Jim Field won Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 9-13 year olds for their book The Parent Agency.

With the Euro 2016 football tournament starting on Friday, the England team have yet to reveal an official song, and David Baddiel thinks he knows why. "I can tell you why there isn't one, and why there hasn't been one for a while," the comedian told BBC News. "And that's because Three Lions killed off the football anthem quite conclusively. There were a few attempts after 1996 but no-one managed it. And that's because it is the best football anthem of all time."
