There has long been a fairly glaring gap in the TV market for a show exploring gaming. This cheerful gameshow does the job reasonably well as guests waggle their joysticks at each other, offering a competitive spectacle but also practical game reviews into the bargain. This week's episode is notable for featuring a game called Goat Simulator. Surely a prospect to pique the curiosity of even the most luddite of viewers?

Preview - Dara O Briain's Go 8 Bit

Dave's video game comedy returns for a second series - and it's even managed to spawn a spin-off.

Ian Wolf, On The Box, 15th May 2017

Richard Osman and Sara Pascoe are the celeb joystick-wagglers launching the second series of Dave's arcade thunderdome. This anarchic gameshow has finally cracked how to turn video gaming into a spectator sport by booking enthusiastic guests, adding studio audience interactivity and, crucially, putting game-literate wits O Briain and Ellie Gibson in charge. A new reviews-focused companion show, Go 8 Bit: DLC, follows straight after.

Dara O Briain: The post-truth world is 'very worrying'

Dara O Briain is concerned about the post-truth world. The comedian, who studied mathematics and theoretical physics at the University of Dublin, believes that our recent shunning of experts is "a very worrying thing".

The bedtime story series for grown-ups returns for a fourth run, with famous faces reading to camera as strange, twisted and often riotous worlds come to life via accompanying live action or animation. Kicking things off is Dara O Briain, reading the story of a Roman slave who, in trying to dodge his death, puts his life very much in danger. Continues tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday with Sheridan Smith, Bob Mortimer and Anna Friel spinning yarns.

Hannah J Davies, The Guardian, 30th January 2017

The Mock The Week host (by his own admission, often tragically mistaken for Al Murray) brings his brand of breathless, roaming gag-making to the Hammersmith Apollo. This 2015 set touches on subjects including "the useless and incredibly specific" item of clothing that are stockings (why do men like a woman who "looks like she's been partially dipped in ink"?), pole-dancing, and the sudden, mysterious rise of pulled pork.
