Daniel Pountney is a final-year student on Falmouth University's MA Comedy Writing programme, spearheaded by the man they call Simon Nicholls (because, well, that's his name).

Born into a chaotic, working-class family in the West Midlands, Daniel took his time figuring out what he wanted to do--so he tried a bit of everything. Champion pro wrestler? Yep. Frontman of a band? Of course. TV shopping presenter? Naturally.

Now hurtling towards 40 with his second child in utero, Daniel spends his days 'grappling' with the idea of a more sensible haircut while keeping up the pretence that this is just a phase--and, of course, that he absolutely loves his 'proper' job, for the sake of his long-suffering wife.

He's currently writing Baby Steps, a (mostly) true account of his and his wife's IVF journey, with his fingers tightly crossed for his first writing credit in 2025. He's also interested in podcast production, sketches, and comedy drama--basically, anything that might serve as an escape hatch from the consumer electronics industry and finally let him make a living out of whatever the f**k this is.
