Live review: Ross Noble, Eventim Apollo, W6

At one point during Ross Noble's gig he pointed out something important: "I am contractually obliged to follow an idea as far as it will go." Suddenly everything made sense. Noble's brain is simply hardwired to channel maximum lunacy.

Interview: Daniel Sloss

Daniel Sloss used to have a simple rule about awards. Don't accept them. That was until earlier this year when he deservedly won the "Best of the Fest" International Award at the Sydney Comedy Festival. Funnily his attitude softened: "I always said if I ever got nominated for an award I'd turn it down, but it was so nice of them I decided it would would be rude not to accept it."

TV review: The Undiscovered Peter Cook, BBC4

It's the kind of scoop every journalist/documentarist dreams of. Getting access to hitherto unseen archives of someone dead and famous. And that is exactly what Victor Lewis-Smith landed when Peter Cook's widow Lin allowed him to rummage through Cook's personal possessions in his Hampstead mews home that hadn't been touched since his death in 1995. The results have been painstakingly cherry picked and put together to produce this fascinating doc on a man who has already had umpteen fascinating docs made about him.

Review: Frankie Boyle's American Autopsy

Don't, of course, watch American Autopsy for definitive answers. This was recorded shortly after the vote and I suspect the panel was as shellshocked as the rest of us by the result. But everyone is good value and I suppose I should mention that it's excellent to have so many women on one show. But one final thought. I can't help thinking that when Frankie Boyle sounds like the voice of reason the world really has turned upside down.

When is a stand-up comedian not a stand-up comedian?

Something that has been bothering me for a while is the way that anybody that stands up onstage and makes people laugh gets described as doing stand-up comedy.
