Review: Cally Beaton, The Warren, Brighton Fringe

It's a work in progress, and still in the works. Both sides of the show explain how Beaton has fought against the unasked for invisibility of the show's title. Hopefully the two will either merge more coherently or one will win out to dominate by the time Edinburgh Fringe comes around in August and the show is declared ready.

Review: Flinch, Netflix

It's a pretty harmless, original set-up, with a few echoes of other shows. The unashamed silliness and the D-I-Y contraptions have a hint of Dave's Taskmaster. And when toy trains with rotten meat on them choo choo under the noses of the competitors there is a little whiff of I'm A Celebrity's Bushtucker Trials. But nobody has to eat any kangaroo anus, this is all pretty lightweight torture. Although just to be on the safe side a caption does say "don't try this home". The programme makers are however, clearly hoping that you will binge on it at home.

Fringepig magazine closes as founder elected councillor

"If anyone would like to take it on, I am willing to sell it for the price of a second-hand Vauxhall. You can still feasibly complete it in time for the Fringe, and it comes with easy-to follow directions and 20 beautiful, and only slightly kicked-about distribution boxes."

99 Club Bursary Showcase review

I was a judge and while our conversation must remain private, let's just say resolving this one makes Brexit seem like a doddle.

Cerys Nelmes turns out to be a life saver

"As I was walking to the till a woman started coughing. Her friend got up and started tapping her on the back but then it escalated and she started choking. I put my bag down and went over and started pounding her on the back to no avail. The ambulance was called and all the staff and customers were gathering around! I then started the Heimlich manoeuvre quite vigorously and then gave her some more massive slaps on the back and eventually dislodged the prawn she was choking on."
