My particular Christmas favourite was ... And Yet Another Partridge In A Pear Tree. The joke was simple: the recipient of the gifts in the Twelve Days of Christmas carol reacting with mounting hysteria to the arrival of what turned out to be a total of 140 human beings, 40 gold rings, and 184 assorted birds (one partridge drowned in a milking pail). The donor gets the lot back and serve him right.
