Kate & Koji revels in outdated prejudice

The makers of Outnumbered have created a distasteful comedy about a cafe owner and an asylum seeker, that even the talent of Brenda Blethyn and Jimmy Akingbola can't save.

Ammar Kalia, The Guardian, 18th March 2020

Kate & Koji review

Whisper it, but ITV could just have created that rarest of creatures - a mainstream sitcom that's constantly funny; deserving of critical praise as well as strong audiences.

Steve Bennett, Chortle, 18th March 2020

Katie & Koji doesn't shy away from the truth

Although from very different worlds, it's soon evident they share similar traits, including a dogged determination to never back down.

Brenda Blethyn in new Hamilton & Jenkin ITV sitcom

Brenda Blethyn and Jimmy Akingbola will star in a new ITV sitcom from the writers of Drop The Dead Donkey.

British Comedy Guide, 23rd August 2019

The Bullion Boys was a lollipop for finishing the Screen One series nicely. There is, it seems to me, something specific about Liverpool humour. It is the place where the Irish, Welsh and Scots, trying to get in, meet the English trying to get out and kick up a fine, creative froth. David Jason, playing the dockers' leader, was not like this at all. It was a sombre, strong performance like the stout below. Brenda Blethyn gave a ticklingly funny performance as a letter censor, rather like an exceptionally clever hen.

Nancy Banks-Smith, The Guardian, 25th October 1993
