- Full name
- Alexander Macqueen

Educated at St John's School, Leatherhead and Collingwood College, Durham University, where he received a first in English literature, Alex Macqueen went on to study for a M.Phil at Pembroke College, Cambridge, graduating in 1998.
A member of the National Youth Theatre between 1992 and 1995, he initially trained as a barrister at the Middle Temple. Shortly after, he worked as a Business Affairs Executive for Granada International and then spent time working at the House of Commons during the creation of the Broadcasting Act 1996.
He is perhaps best known on British television for his appearances in comedies written by Armando Ianucci. He played Julius Nicholson, the "blue-skies advisor" to the Prime Minister, in satirical political sitcom The Thick Of It, and then again as Sir Jonathan Tutt, British Ambassador to the UN, in Ianucci's film In The Loop. Elsewhere, he plays Kevin Sutherland (Neil's father) in E4's successful, outrageous comedy The Inbetweeners, about four secondary-school pupils who desperately want to 'fit in' and look cool, and Edmund in Hunderby, a period comedy on Sky Atlantic based on sinister village politics in the 1800s.
Macqueen is known for comedic cameos in successful TV comedies, such as appearing as a vicar in the Comic Relief special of Mr. Bean in 2007, another vicar in The IT Crowd, and as an anti-speed bump campaigner in two episodes of BBC One's Outnumbered.
Macqueen has also featured in television advertisements for brand such as Specsavers, Dell, and Utterly Butterly.
