Alex Lowe is an English actor and comedian known as the creator and voice behind the character "Barry from Watford" on Steve Wright's BBC Radio 2 show and Talkradio's Iain Lee show. In comedy he is known for his outrageous spoofs of figures both political and popular, and for his character comedy as both Clinton Baptiste (from collaborations with Peter Kay) and Barry from Watford.

Clinton Baptiste - Nationality

An actor equally at home in both drama and character comedy, Alex Lowe made his TV debut in 1981 with Thames Television's Theatre Box, before playing Wharton in "Another Country" at the Queen's Theatre, in Shaftesbury Avenue, London.
He is known for his collaborations with Peter Kay, playing Clinton Baptiste in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights and Sparky in That Peter Kay Thing. In 2008 he reprised that first role in Peter Kay's absurdist spoof of talent show programmes, entitled Britain's Got The Pop Factor... And Possible A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice. In 2015 he would return to the role once again for Phoenix Nights Live, which played at the Manchester Arena, and in 2018 he released a 6-part podcast series entitled "Clinton Baptiste's paranormal podcast", with a second series in 2019. In 2019 he embarked upon a national tour with Clinton Baptiste: The Paranormalist Returns.
In 2011 and 2012 Lowe wrote for the BBC's Watson And Oliver sketch show, and also appeared in the Channel 4 sketch show The Anna And Katy Show, in which he gave birth to a wide range of intriguing characters.
Alongside film role such as The Messenger in Much Ado About Nothing and Simon Merriel in Haunted, Lowe notably played Paul in Peter's Friends, one of his first out-and-out comedic performances.
In 2013 he also helped to write the Sky Atlantic comedy drama Common Ground, a series of mockumentary shorts starring Johnny Vegas and Katy Brand, among others.
A prolific performer and writer, Lowe stars in successful sitcoms for BBC Radio 4: as an ensemble actor in Seekers, and as Brian in Clare In The Community.
He has played both Jeremy Corbyn and Jacob Rees-Mogg on Sam Delaney's News Thing, a long-running RT weekly comedy show satirising the latest news in global politics, hosted by journalist and author Sam Delaney.
