Rape performer Adrienne Truscott on a gimmick

New York-based Adrienne Truscott is performing her show at London's Soho Theatre until the end of the month. She performs naked from the waist down.

Adrienne Truscott's Asking For It at the Soho | review

The audience initially feels uneasy, uncertain where Truscott will draw the line, but this is soon forgotten (along with the nudity), as audience members lose themselves in the subtlety and sophistication of her comedy. Highly provocative both in its message and its delivery, the show is not for everyone. You have to at least be "open to it".

Review: Adrienne Truscott, Soho Theatre

Show about a serious subject is acidly funny.

Adrienne Truscott's Asking for It - Review

Adrienne Truscott's satirical broadside against rape culture transfers perfectly from the Fringe with firecracker wit.

Sex, rape and role models - how women in comedy perform

Two performance artists in this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) - the UK's Bryony Kimmings and American Adrienne Truscott - have a certain flavour of humour: it's the knowing, self-deprecating humour of the culturally dispossessed, of survivors and victims. And yes, they're both women.

Adrienne Truscott: the naked comic

She performs semi-nude and asks audiences: 'Ever been raped?' Are you ready for this brash New Yorker's brand of polemic Fringe-winning standup?

Adrienne Truscott, comic who performs naked waist down

To be fair, the show's title had given fair warning. Adrienne Truscott's Asking for It: A One-Lady Rape About Comedy Starring Her Pussy and Little Else sounds like the sort of thing you might studiously avoid in the cabaret listings of Time Out but it turned out to be a show so daring, unique and entertaining that I and my fellow judges on the Edinburgh Comedy Awards ended up giving it the Panel Prize at this year's Fringe.

Adrienne Truscott interview: Rape joke culture

"In my opinion, of course yes, you can make jokes about anything, but what jokes are you gonna make?" Adrienne Truscott on what inspired her award-winning show about rape.

Why feminism has never been so funny

At the Edinburgh fringe, new comedy icons Bridget Christie and Adrienne Truscott took on the F-word. I can't wait to see what they and their patriarchy-smashing pals do next.
