Jimmy Carr working on "The Rosetta Stone Of Comedy" course and book
Jimmy Carr is seeking to teach an online course on the "language" of stand-up, The Rosetta Stone Of Comedy, with an accompanying book to follow.
British Comedy Guide, 16th April 2024Family comedy starring Caroline Quentin and Neil Dudgeon as Maddy and Jim, a recently married couple adjusting to a life together with each other's children. Unfortunately the success of snappy sitcom Outnumbered makes these humdrum shenanigans look as outdated as they are unfunny.
Abi Grant, The Telegraph, 15th January 2009Now in its 18th year and 35th series, Have I Got News for You is without doubt the little Radio 4 parlour game that could. Its success is due partly to its topicality, but mostly to the genuine rivalry between team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton (Merton in particular hates to lose).
Abi Grant, The Telegraph, 18th April 2008Adrian Edmondson stars as Vernon, a divorced dad with delusions of trendiness (he used to be in a band), who's forced to move in with his children in their student flat. Cue endless "embarrassing dad" jokes, close-ups of trousers splitting and even that Seventies sitcom staple - the comedy foreigner (a Hong Kong student). In the opening episode, Vernon seeks "an easy hot night of passion" and ends up in bed with more than one person. So old-fashioned it's as if The Young Ones never happened.
Abi Grant, The Telegraph, 28th March 2008Return of the sometimes tasteless and occasionally funny comedy set in a Benidorm holiday resort, featuring eccentric working-class characters playing out their darkly peculiar lives. Like Five's Suburban Shootout, the comedy is hit and miss, but the performances are universally good, and so Benidorm deserves points for trying.
