Katherine Ryan is making an audience-led comedy show for Amazon Prime, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.
In Backstage With Katherine Ryan, the Canadian comic - who speaks openly about her relationships and advises listeners on their personal dilemmas on her popular podcast Telling Everybody Everything - is asking a studio audience of fans to submit their "burning questions" to her.
Recording is due to begin in London soon on the 30-minute series by producers Expectation Entertainment. Other participating comedians will be announced shortly.
The production company already makes Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable for Dave, in which comedians and celebrities share their most embarrassing confessions, as well as Sophie Willan's upcoming BBC Two sitcom Alma's Not Normal and Nick Mohammed's spy sitcom Intelligence for Sky One.
Backstage is Ryan's first production for Amazon Prime. It follows her deal with rival streamer Netflix to release her sitcom The Duchess last year and her stand-up specials In Trouble (2017) and Glitter Room (2019). She was also a team captain on Netflix's 2018 US panel show The Fix, featuring fellow comics Jimmy Carr as host and D.L. Hughley as her opposing captain.
Ryan is appearing on the latest Great Celebrity Bake Off Stand Up To Cancer special and is the host of BBC Two's forthcoming jeweller talent search All That Glitters. She is also writing her autobiography, The Audacity, to be published in September, when she takes her stand-up show Missus out on tour around the UK.
