The cast of The Brittas Empire are to reunite online to mark the 30th anniversary of the leisure centre sitcom.

On Thursday 28th January at 8pm, Em-Con (East Midlands Convention), will host the virtual event for free via Facebook Live.

The event, which is being run in association with the Chris Barrie Fans group, will involve many of the cast who starred in the hit 1990s BBC sitcom.

The organisers say: "The night will consist of scene readings, the cast talking about their time on the show, sharing stories and memories and then finishing with a question and answer panel, where the cast will take questions from the attendees watching."

Chris Barrie, who played leisure centre manager Gordon Brittas in all seven series of the comedy, will appear. Also confirmed are Harriet Thorpe (Carole), Tim Marriott (Gavin), Russell Porter (Tim), Jill Greenacre (Linda), Mike Burns (Colin), Andrée Bernard (Angie), Julia St. John (Laura) and John Carrigan (Patrick), with "more to be announced".

Some of the cast previously met up in October 2017 to re-open the refurbished Ringwood Leisure Centre, where the sitcom's location sequences were filmed. This new event has been organised to mark the show turning 30.

The Brittas Empire launched on BBC One on 3rd January 1991, and ran up to 1997, clocking up over 50 episodes across its seven series.

To mark the show's anniversary, British Comedy Guide recently published the article 30 years of The Brittas Empire, which looks in depth as the show's premise and history.
